Prepare Identification Documents
The "subscriber's address" required at the time of application must meet the following three criteria.
- 1. The address must be listed on the identification documents.
- 2. The address must be in Japan.
- 3. The address must be an address where you can receive mails and packages.
When signing up, upload identification documents that match your residence status.

For customers who want to use an eSIM with LINEMO
Due to the limited number of identification documents that can be used, only those with a residence status of "Permanent Resident" or "Special Permanent Resident" can sign up with an eSIM subscription.

Please check the information on your identification documents in advance. If there is an issue with the identification documents, the sign up process may be canceled.
(1) Residence Card
Required if your residence status is "Permanent Resident" or "Non-permanent Resident or Special Permanent Resident".
- 1. The residence card must be valid (not expired)
- 2. The name, address, and date of birth specified during the sign up process must match the information on the residence card (if the last name or address is different, upload supporting documents) In addition, the SIM card will be sent to the address listed on the residence card, so please make sure that the address can receive mail
- 3. The "gender" indication on the residence card must be covered by something such as a plain piece of paper. (If it is not covered, the application process will be canceled.)
- 4. The photo of your face on the residence card must be clearly identifiable (not acceptable if your face cannot be identified due to darkening, masking, etc.)
(2) Passport (Photo Page)
If you do not have a permanent residence card, your passport is required together with your (1) residence card.
Please upload the page with your photo. Other pages and visas are not accepted.
- 1. The "gender" indication on the residence card must be covered by something such as a plain piece of paper. (If it is not covered, the application process will be canceled.)
(3) Special Permanent Residence Certificate
Required if your residence status is "Special Permanent Resident".
- 1. The residence card must be valid (not expired)
- 2. The name, address, and date of birth specified during the sign up process must match the information on the special permanent Resident Certificate (if the last name or address is different, upload supporting documents)
- 3. The "gender" indication on the residence card must be covered by something such as a plain piece of paper. (If it is not covered, the application process will be canceled.)
- 4. The photo of your face on the residence card must be clearly identifiable (not acceptable if your face cannot be identified due to darkening, masking, etc.)
(4) Supporting Documents
If the last name on the (1) Residence Card or (2) Passport is not up-to-date, one of the following documents with the latest information is required.
Certificate of Residence Record (original)
- 1. The name must be the same as the name on the identification documents
- 2. "My Number" and "Gender" information on the residence card must be covered by something such as a plain piece of paper. (If it is not covered, the sign up process will be canceled.)
- 3. The certificate must be issued within the last 3 months
- 4. The current address must be listed
- ※ A copy of your Certificate of Residence can also be accepted. (A copy of a Certificate of Residence issued from a municipality besides the municipality where the Certificate of Residence was registered is also acceptable.)
- ※ If you provide a copy of your Certificate of Residence, in addition to the above precautions, please cover the "Permanent Domicile" with a plain piece of paper or the like.
Public Utilities Receipt
Receipts for electricity, gas, water, and NHK fees are accepted.
- 1. The name must be the same as the name on the identification documents (a receipt with just the family name is not acceptable)
- 2. The receipt must be issued within the last 3 months
- 3. The current address must be listed
- 4. The receipt must include a receipt stamp or text indication that it is a receipt

A one-time password will be sent to you during the process to verify your email address.
In addition, after signing up, a notification indicating that your SIM card has been shipped and instructions on how to start using the service will be sent.
A credit card or financial institution account in the same name as the subscriber can be used as a payment method.
Please pay your monthly bill (1st to the last day of each month) by the designated payment method.
- ※ The billing amount will be sent to your registered email address when it is confirmed (around the 12th of the following month).
Payment by Credit Card
VISA, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, and Diners Club credit cards are accepted.
The date when the credit card payment will be processed is based on the terms of the credit card company you use.
- ※ Your payment will be recorded as "SoftBank M" (or similar) on your credit card statement.
- ※ Debit cards with the VISA/Master/JCB mark can also be used (“J-Debit” cannot be used). If you request payment by debit card, the amount may be debited from your designated account before the billing information is disclosed. The debit will be processed around the 8th to 11th of each month.
- ※ Only credit cards with a card holder name that matches the subscriber are accepted.
Payment by Direct Debit
The fee will be debited from your account at a financial institution in Japan such as Japan Post Bank, Bank of Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, or Mizuho Bank.
- ※ Depending on your financial institution, SMBC Finance Service Co., Ltd. (formerly Cedyna Financial Corporation) will process the bill.
- ※ The time of debit varies depending on the financial institution. Therefore, even if you make a deposit to your debit account on the day that a payment is due, the amount may not be debited. Please make sure your account has enough balance by the previous day (or the business day of the financial institution before that if the previous day is a Saturday, Sunday or holiday) to make the payment.
